Fans of Norifumi ?Kid? Yamamoto got some good news this week when the UFC announced the Krazy Bee competitor would return to the ring as part of the UFC on FOX lineup. Yamamoto had been scheduled to face Damacio Page later this month at UFC 135 before an undisclosed injury forced him out of the fight last week, yet another example in a long line of the Japanese icon?s struggles with staying healthy.
?Kid? Yamamoto out of UFC 130 with Injury
The November 12 bout pits Yamamoto up against 6-3 newcomer Darren Uyenoyama who held a 3-0 record in Strikeforce before more than a year away from fighting. He has gone 1-1 since with a second round TKO last September before another unexplained, extended absence from competition.
The 34-year old Yamamoto is in desperate need of a victory after dropping three of his last four including a decision to Demetrious Johnson this past February in the Japanese fighter?s UFC debut. He is 18-4 overall with thirteen TKOs in his catalog of exciting finishing performances.
Yamamoto vs. Uyenoyama join other UFC on FOX preliminary pairings including a bout between WEC veterans Cub Swanson and Ricardo Lamas, as well as fantastic featherweights Dustin Poirier and Pablo Garza and a recently added showdown between top 155ers Clay Guida and Ben Henderson.
