Back in Russia, Fedor says he's probably not retiring
The former PRIDE champ, who suffered a vicious beating at the hands of Antonio Silva, told the Russian media that he still has some fight left in him.
"I rushed to declare my retirement out of frustration. I will fight more. Possibly, I will return to the [Strikeforce] heavyweight Grand Prix," Fedor told LifeSports.ru (translation via Cage Potato). "I am confident that I am capable of having a few more fights. I didn’t make any analysis yet on why I lost. I need to recover. I can’t see very well yet."
Fedor's coaches downplayed the loss to Silva.
"Fedor is quite able to return to the tournament," Emelianenko’s striking coach, Alexander Michkov explained. "Everybody stumbles. This is not as terrible as everyone is making it out to be."
His Sambo coach Vladimir Voronov said Fedor is more motivated now than ever.
"He has a hematoma, but it will go. It’s very good that Fedor still has his fighting spirit, he is ready to break everyone now," Voronov said. "Most importantly for him is not to have any psychological pressure. The loss will make him train with triple the effort."
Is there any doubt Fedor will be re-inserted into the tournament if anyone else gets hurt? That's a bad break for guys like Shane del Rosario and Valentijn Overeem. Strikeforce is paying big money and wants to get maximum bang for its buck.

MMA Top 10 Heavyweights: Fedor's Fall Continues

From 2003 to 2009, Fedor Emelianenko was the No. 1 heavyweight in mixed martial arts. In 2010, he finally fell from the top spot.
In 2011, Fedor is only a marginal member of the Top 10.
On a two-fight losing streak, with neither of those fights even being competitive, Fedor has fallen a long, long way. That's not surprising: Fedor is, after all, a man in his mid-30s. Athletes in all sports decline in their mid-30s, and MMA is no different. And Fedor trains in seclusion, which means that as the sport grows and other fighters get better, Fedor isn't improving along with them.
So as we look at the Top 10 heavyweights in mixed martial arts, we'll see Fedor in a place we're not accustomed to seeing him.

'The other Overeem' grounds and quickly submits Sefo
Little bro is getting all the attention, but don't sleep on Valentijn Overeem. The MMA veteran is dangerous and especially a guy like Ray Sefo, who has so liittle MMA experience. Overeem stood with the kickboxer Sefo for a while then got it to the ground easily and submitted Sefo in a matter of seconds via neck crank at 1:37 of the first at the Izod Center in New Jersey.
Overeem's younger brother, Alistair is one of the favorites in the main field of the tournament. He's also the Strikeforce heavyweight champ.Sefo, 39, is a very good kickboxer, but trying to play catch up with his knowledge of the ground game. Sefo (2-1 MMA, 56-21-1 kickboxing) was more than holding his own on the feet. The more athletic and younger Overeem (29-25) was getting hit with some jabs and overhand rights.
With 3:10 gone by in the fight, Overeem, 34, dropped for a sloppy double-leg takedown. Sefo sprawled, but Overeem was still able to crawl his way into a takedown. Sefo found himself underneath Overeem, who was in side control. The Dutch kickboxer got his right arm under Sefo's head and pulled up. The New Zealander quickly tapped. When he rose to his feet, he was grabbing his left shoulder.

UFC on Versus 3 to Be Broadcast in 3D
The growing trend of 3D television is finally ready to marry itself to the growing sport of mixed martial arts. The UFC's upcoming UFC on Versus 3 event will be broadcast in 3D on select cable outlets, sport trade journal Sports Business Daily reported on Friday. It will mark the first time a UFC event is telecast in the format, though the UFC has privately tried out the technology in the past.
