Pascal Krauss out, Matt Brown in against John Hathaway at UFC 138

It looks like the return of welterweight Pascal Krauss will be delayed, as it was announced today that the undefeated German had to pull out of his UFC 138 bout against John Hathaway with a shoulder injury. UFC officials quickly found a more than suitable replacement though, calling up the always-game Matt Brown to step up for Krauss and challenge the Brit in his home country of England.

The bout change has been made official by the UFC.

Following a three fight losing streak, ?The Immortal? found his back against the wall this past June when he took on powerful welterweight John Howard. In need of a victory to keep his job, Brown took the fight to Howard and picked up a unanimous decision victory, keeping him employed for at least one more fight. The victory was the first time the Ohio native has ever won via the judges scorecards and only the third time in his 22 career fights that he?s been left his fate in the hands of the judges. Brown is known for his exciting style and his excellent chin, having never been knocked out in his career.

Looking to continue climbing back up the 170 ladder, Hathaway will try and build on a victory over Kris McCray at UFC Fight Night 24. Riding high after wins over Rick Story, Paul Taylor, and Diego Sanchez, ?The Hitman? was brought back to reality at UFC 120, getting out-grappled by veteran Mike Pyle. The loss was the first time Hathaway had tasted defeat in his career.

UFC 138 is scheduled for November 5 at the LG Arena in Birmingham, England. The event will be headlined by the first ever non-title five round fight between the heavy handed Chris Leben and all-american wrestler Mark Munoz.
